Lucas-Andreï Thil, PhD candidate at ORAILIX, and his team Piaget finished second at Hack the World(s), a 24-hour hackathon held under the patronage of Philippe Baptiste and sponsored by Yann LeCun on the JEPA architecture.
Their project, Wiring the Fly Brain into a Hierarchical World Model, trained a JEPA world model on the spikes of an embodied Drosophila connectome (released by FlyWire) inside NeuroMechFly v2 in MuJoCo, with a hierarchy of sub-models coupled along the brain's own sensory → integration → motor flow. The clearest result: coupling regions along the connectome's feedforward structure measurably improves prediction over longer horizons. The brain's own wiring makes the world model better.
